WINTER IN THE MOUNTAINS
Winter in the mountains is one of those experiences that never gets old, it’s a season that feels energising and calming at the same time.
Earlier this winter, I was lucky enough to head to the mountains for my third year with Goldbergh (I still pinch myself), and it felt like the perfect way to embrace ski season and my first time in the Italian Dolomites.
A WINTER HIGHLIGHT
The trip itself was such a highlight. We had an amazing itinerary laid on for us; days on the slopes, lunches in the mountains, relaxed afternoons and an immersive cooking masterclass with resident Michelin chef, Simone Cantafio.
THE HOTEL
Tucked deep into the Dolomites, the La Perla was everything you want from a ski base. Getting there was simple - a flight into Venice followed by a scenic three hour drive straight into the mountains. The moment I arrived, I felt so at home… the hotel is so very cosy! With direct slope access, a luxe boot room (always underrated), and the cosiest corners for post-ski hot chocolates, it was designed entirely around comfort. Oh and the spa is perfect for post-ski recovery and slow evenings after full days outside.
WHY I SKI WITH GOLDBERGH
Goldbergh continues to be my go to for ski wear because it perfectly bridges fashion and performance. Every piece is so well thought out - warm where it needs to be, supportive, practical and genuinely functional on the slopes. Even the more fashion forward details, like faux fur trims and statement silhouettes, never compromise on performance. It’s ski wear that makes you feel confident, comfortable and put-together from first lift to après.
THE FOOD
Food was a huge part of the experience (as I had expected in Italy ofc!). Lunches at Jimmi Hut were all about big mountain views, upbeat energy and long afternoons that slipped by far too easily. Berghotel Lavinia delivered the cosiest lunches paired with incredible comfort food - the kind of place you want to linger long after your plates are cleared. And then there was the hotel, La Perla, the Michelin starred restaurant, which was a full gastronomic experience and a real standout of the trip.
HOW TO LOOK STYLISH
ON THE SLOPES
When it comes to ski style, I always look for pieces that combine function and style. Well-fitted ski suits, proper layering, and outerwear that works just as well off the slopes are key. This year I wore the most amazing red ski jacket, inspired by Princess Diana in the 90's, it was by far my favourite look from the trip.
SKI BEAUTY EDIT
Hydration and protection are everything when you’re in a cold climate, these are a few of my essentials for when I'm in the mountains. A good, thick moisturiser is a must, your skin needs as much moisture as possible to prevent it drying out in the cold air. Lip balm is a lifesaver and SPF is non-negotiable; when the sun reflects off the snow it's stronger than you realise.
Winter in the mountains is something I’ll never tire of. Whether you’re heading off on a ski trip or spending winter at home, I hope this inspires you to enjoy the season a little more.
Love,
